FOUND PETS
If you have found a pet in the greater Toledo area, Bowling Green or even south to North Baltimore Ohio. PLEASE go to www.petfbi.org to place a notice. This is the central database to post lost and found animals.

Other things you can do:
1) Place a free found ad in the Toledo Blade. Give a vague description; you don't want someone pretending to be the owner and claim the animal. When someone calls ask for a complete description of the animal in question. Please call
419-245-6500

2) Create a found pet poster. Include a description, the area the pet was found, and your phone number. Put up posters in the area you found the animal, at pet stores, vet offices. When someone calls, ask for a complete description of the animal.

3) Let the neighbors and the mailman know that you found an animal. Lost pets often stay within a 5 mile radius of home initially so someone may know the pet.

4) Contact vet offices in the area the animal was found to see if any animals are reported missing.

FOR FOUND DOGS, CALL THE DOG WARDEN

               Monroe County 734-240-3125
               Wood County   419-354-9242
               Fulton County  419-337-9219
               Lucas County   419-255-6119

If Lucas County Dog Warden is closed and you have a tag number, call the Emergency Animal Hospital at 419-473-0328

Some other cities have animal control to call:
                Perrysburg     419-872-8001
                Maumee       419-897-7045
                Northwood    419-691-5053
                Rossford      419-666-5230

I often see dogs in the Wood County Dog Shelter, they have been found in Rossford Ohio, Lucky Ohio or Perrysburg Ohio. Do these owners know to contact all the area shelters and Humane Societies? Are dogs being subjected to a premature euthanizing all because their owners don't know where to search for them?

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A LOST DOG

You will need to visit the dog warden. They will not tell you over the phone if they have your dog.

                   FOR LOST and FOUND CATS

For lost cats, no one agency handles lost cats. Some shelters take stray animals and some don't. This is why it is best to post cats on the www.petfbi.org site, or in the local paper. Once again most are freee for found pets.

                          PET IDENTIFICATION

The key to being reunited with your pet if he or she gets lost is having proper identification tags. Make sure your pet is always wearing an ID tag with your name, address, and phone number. A microchip permanently embedded by your vet is also a good idea in case a tag falls off.

All county's require you have a dog license. In Wood County a dog license is only $12.00 I believe this is a VERY SMALL price to pay, especially if it will save your pets life!

                 Don't give up hope!

PLEASE KEEP TRYING.....Someone really wants their best friend home again!

About Us: Feature: FAQPuppy Mills: What You Should Know Before Buying a Puppy at a Pet Store
Many potential pet owners have been drawn to the adorable puppy faces at their local pet stores, only to end up making an impulsive purchase. Unfortunately, that adorable puppy may very well have been bred in a substandard breeding operation known as a "Puppy Mill." Inherently cruel, these breeding facilities are often overcrowded and unsanitary.  Many times puppies who are purchased in pet stores have unreported ailments and hereditary conditions that may result in death.  If you are looking to add a puppy to your family, please consider contacting your local shelter first.
